Prisco’s Week 17 NFL picks: Pats top Dolphins, Bills edge Bengals in ‘MNF’, Packers keep playoff hopes alive

It finally happened. It took me 16 weeks, but I finally achieved the triple crown of picking.

I’ve had great success with my ATS picks as part of CBSSports.com’s Expert Picks, as well as my straight picks and also my best bets.

The records: 13-3 ATS, 12-4 straight and 5-1 with my best bets as part of the “Pick Six NFL” podcast. That brings my season records to 149-90-1 straight, 114-117-9 ATS and 52-37-5 with my best bets.

So after two terrible weeks, I responded with my best of the year. Let’s keep the hot streak going.

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Atlanta Falcons vs. Arizona Cardinals

This game is one of the few that doesn’t make sense as it relates to the playoffs. Arizona is coming off a tough home loss to the Bucks, while the Falcons lost to the Ravens on the road. That’s a long journey for a team playing for nothing, so give me Desmond Ridder to get his first NFL win as a starter.

Choose: Falcons 25, Cardinals 17

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

The Lions are coming off a bad loss to the Panthers, while the Bears are playing on the ropes. Detroit must win to have a chance to make the postseason. He was awful last week against the Panthers, but back at home against the Bears he should get it back on track. The Lions win it on the back of a strong offensive display.

Choose: Lions 31, Bears 23

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Selected game | Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

This game means virtually nothing to the Jaguars, so they could rest some guys who are sore. The Texans have played well in the division and traditionally play well against the Jaguars, beating them earlier this year. Even so, I think Jacksonville will find a way to pull out a close game.

Choose: Jaguars 24, Texans 21

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Selected game | Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos

The Broncos play back-to-back road games, and they play for nothing. Kansas City still has a shot at first place in the conference. The Broncos are also a mess right now after firing coach Nathaniel Hackett. I don’t think they’re getting the fired coach push here. The Chiefs will blow them out as Russell Wilson continues to struggle.

Choose: Chiefs 33, Broncos 10

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Selected game | New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins

The winner of this game will control their playoff destiny, making this a huge game for both of them. The Dolphins have lost four straight, while the Patriots have lost two tough ones in the past two weeks. Both offenses have struggled of late, and Miami is almost certain to be without Tua Tagovailoa due to a concussion. Teddy Bridgewater will start. This matters. The Patriots will win it.

Choose: Patriots 24, Dolphins 20

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Selected game | New York Giants vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Giants need one win to make the playoffs, and this is their best chance against a bad Colts team playing on a short week. The Colts got nothing from Nick Foles at quarterback, which shouldn’t give them much hope here. The Giants will win this and go to the playoffs behind a good defensive effort.

Choose: Giants 28, Colts 13

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints

The Eagles are still trying to lock down the top seed, but they may be without Jalen Hurts in it. That would mean another game for Gardner Minshew. The Saints are playing back-to-back road games after beating the Browns. The defense played well in this one, but this is a better offense. Look for the Eagles to get back on track after the loss to Dallas and end the Saints’ slim playoff chances.

Choose: Eagles 28, Saints 17

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers

This is likely for the category title. If the Bucs win, they win the division. If the Panthers win and then win the next week, they’ll win it. Carolina is playing better football right now than the Bucs, but this is a tough spot against Tom Brady on the road. Even so, I think Carolina will use the run game that ran for over 300 yards against the Lions to win this game. The Panthers win it in an upset.

Choose: Panthers 23, Bucs 22

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Washington Commanders vs. Cleveland Browns

The Commanders just need to win out to make the playoffs. The Browns are out. Cleveland’s offense has done little with Deshaun Watson, while Washington’s defense is in big trouble. Look for Washington to do it a lot against a bad Cleveland defense with Brian Robinson Jr. They win it and keep pushing toward the postseason.

Choose: Commanders 23, Browns 21

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Las Vegas Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Raiders are playing for next year after losing to the Steelers, while the 49ers can still push for the second seed. Derek Carr was awful against Pittsburgh and this 49ers defense is special. Look for the 49ers to keep winning with Brock Purdy and this great defense.

Choose: 49ers 27, Raiders 19

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (Fox, fuboTV)

Selected game | Seattle Seahawks vs. New York Jets

This is a long, tough road trip for the Jets, who are not playing well. Mike White will be back at quarterback in this game against a struggling Seattle defense. Geno Smith hasn’t played well in recent weeks and the Jets are a tough defense. With White back, the Jets will find a way to win a close one.

Choose: Jets 24, Seahawks 20

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Selected game | Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

This is a huge game for the Packers. If they win, they could be a playoff team. The Vikings still have a shot at first place in the conference. But survival is more motivating than a seed. The Packers lost to the Vikings earlier this year, but I think Aaron Rodgers will have a field day against a bad Vikings defense. Packers win it.

Choose: Packers 31, Vikings 24

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Selected game | Los Angeles Chargers vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are coming off an impressive win against the Broncos, but this is a big step up. The Chargers have clinched a playoff spot, so their motivation has begun for now. Even so, they need to show more on offense to prepare for the postseason. I think they do here.

Choose: Chargers 30, Rams 21

Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC, fuboTV)

Selected game | Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are still alive, but just barely, while the Ravens are pushing for the division title. Baltimore still isn’t doing much on offense, but the defense is playing well. The Steelers beat the Raiders on a last minute touchdown to keep their hopes alive. This will be a low scoring defensive game with the Ravens winning it late.

Choose: Ravens 19, Steelers 17

Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN, fuboTV)

Selected game | Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills

This is the game of the week with two of the best teams in the NFL facing off. The Bills play back-to-back road games, but have an extra day of rest, which helps. Both teams can score on offense, which means this could be a penalty shootout. I’m going with Josh Allen to get the best possible shot against Joe Barrow.

Choose: Bills 34, Bengals 31
