Win and you’re through to the knockout round, it’s a simple goal for both Tottenham and Marseille which should make for an exciting clash in Group D. Marseille: With almost clean bill of health, Marseilles could be without Eric Bailey but they feel confident when they are directed to things. The former Marseille midfielder, Mathieu Valbuena especially he is ready for the match.

“Marseille has the team to put in a great performance, shake things up and play without pressure,” Valbuena told RMC Sport. “From the beginning of the season, Marseille have no reason to be jealous of Tottenham. If they play to their potential, they can go through. In any case, I am very confident.”

Considering the state of the two clubs, it’s a point as Marseille are just six points off a Champions League spot in Ligue 1 and in the same boat as Spurs, where if they win, they’re in the knockout stages. But the team has also not performed well in recent times with only one win in their last five matches. If they can put everything together, this is certainly a team that can trouble this version of Tottenham.

Tottenham: If there’s one game where Spurs need to be Antonio Conte’s fighters, it’s the one they’ll be without their manager after he was sent off in the draw with Sporting CP. Christian Stellini will lead the team in his absence but will not receive an injury boost. Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Cristian Romero are not all available, but everyone else will be eligible for selection. This gives Stellini the decision to take at center back where Davidson Sanchez had a poor performance against Bournemouth. Eric Dyer he can slot into the side, but with essentially three left centre-backs and Sanchez available, there may be balance issues for Marseille to exploit in the match.

This week Spurs are set to score a late winner that counts after working on the match. It’s not usually pretty, but the Spurs have been effective this season. Choose: Marseille 1, Spurs 2
