God of War Ragnarok it finally came out this week. The launch is celebrated with a unique ad for the lead duo God of War Ragnarok seen on public transport in Bucharest, Romania.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As part of this promotional push, a rather impressive painting adorns public transport in Bucharest. The discovery of this ad is courtesy of Reddit user Unboupeovacapeuntap who posted the photo on the r/gaming forum. On the side of a tram car is a sprawling rendering of Kratos and Atreus, the father-son duo at its core God of War Ragnarok. The center of the panel shows the title logo for the game with close-ups of Kratos and Atreus juxtaposing the title. Mountains and a lightning spread in the background. The tableau draws excellently from the likeness of the characters.

The comments section of the r/gaming post suggests that the painting was not an official advertisement designed by Sony, but a piece of graffiti by a Romanian art group. If this is the case, then it is certainly not the first case God of War he himself inspires fan art. This painting is a much larger creative project than others that have come before it, showing the level of devotion the series inspires in fans who want to pay tribute to it.

The board is so high quality that one could believe the board is an official PlayStation licensed advertisement. Although the board doesn’t appear to be an official Sony ad, the Santa Monica Studio-developed title is getting some free advertising thanks to some creative fans of their latest game. This table is but a needle in the haystack of hype surrounding the game that has helped God of War Ragnarok breaking sales records in its first week of release.

This ad will no doubt have been seen by many passengers and passers-by. However, no matter how much advertising a game gets, if the game isn’t good, it won’t sell the high number of copies that game does. The fact that God of War Ragnarok Reviews heaping praise on the title may be a big reason why the game is selling so well in its opening week.

God of War Ragnarok is now available on PS4 and PS5.
