This popular variant of the best binoculars available, the Celestron Skymaster 15×70, is 25% off for Black Friday and is available for just $90.25. It was $9 cheaper ($81) in October’s Prime Day sale, but given that almost everything is going up in price, it’s no surprise that the price drop is just a touch smaller. They are also on sale at Adorama, now $99 (opens in new tab) and B&H Photo, $99.99 but with a free lens (opens in new tab) if you want some Amazon alternatives.
In our review of the Celestron Skymaster Pro 15×70, we found them to be excellent for viewing larger objects in the deep sky. While this deal isn’t for the pro version, these binoculars feature nearly the same specs, minus a slightly sturdier build and fully multi-coated optics, as opposed to “just” multi-coated optics.
The glass is still top quality BaK4, ensuring a sharp and clear view. Although this (non-professional) version is not waterproof or nitrogen purged, they are still waterproof – just watch out for the coolness.
We recommend pairing the binoculars with one of our best tripods, as the high-magnification views mean your lenses will be difficult to hold steady. But once you mount the set on a tripod using an L-shaped adapter, the view is simply magnificent.
They will show fainter deep-sky objects than you can see in the popular 7×50 or 10×50 binocular sets. On a clear night, the results can be spectacular, even making out the striking red color of Mu Cephei (aka Herschel’s Garnet Star, Erakis), which you can’t identify with the naked eye.
You will also be able to easily find and explore the Andromeda Galaxy and the bright Messier galaxies and nebulae based on the list compiled by Charles Messier. Fortunately, the binoculars are light enough to carry to any dark-sky location you choose.
Eye relief is a generous 18mm, which is good news for glasses wearers. Imagine being empowered to see all of this for less than $100.
Overall, these binoculars will offer users an enjoyable star and galaxy experience at a very reasonable price.
Other offerings in the Celestron Skymaster line are the SkyMaster 25×70, available for just $83.99 (opens in new tab) (35% off) and the SkyMaster 12×60 is on sale for just $75.22 (opens in new tab) at 28% off — both are cheaper than the October sales.
